1st & Hope Exhibition

This was the orchestra's first ever performance, which took place on October 21st, 2006. It was part of a downtown art exhibition event that featured several local visual artists and also premiered Brian Lotti's film "1st & Hope - Arts District Version ".

Unlike a typical orchestra setting, this was at the downtown skate park of pro skateboarder Steve Berra. This mix of cultures sparked an interest in classical music for a large part of the audience which is normally not exposed to classical music.

Music featured at this concerted included Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake", a movement of Bach's 2nd Brandenburg concerto and the 2nd movement of Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony.

Zipper Hall Official Debut Concert

The official debut concert of the Traction Avenue Chamber Orchestra was held at Downtown LA's prestigious Zipper Concert Hall, directly across from the Disney Concert Hall on December 17th, 2006.

The concert was well received by a diverse and full audience. It included an original piece written for the orchestra by composer Jason Turbin (who is a member of the orchestra's violin section), Corelli's Concerto Grosso in F, Bach's Brandenburg concerto No. 2 and Pachelbel's Canon in D.

The performance featured several guest soloists: renowned violinist Haim Shtrum, violinist Petros Boyadzhyan, Brett Klein playing the next to impossible trumpet solo of the 2nd Brandenburg and harpsichordist Bettie Ross accompanying the orchestra in the true spirit of baroque music.

Under the listen section of this website you can hear some clips of the concert.

The poster for the concert was designed by artist Kevin Llewellyn.
